Bastille Day, also known as French National Day, is a holiday celebrating the
beginning of the French Revolution and the Storming of the Bastille by angry
Parisian crowds during the reign of King Louis XVI, The beginning of the French
Revolution and the Storming of the Bastille forced the creation of
the modern French Republic. The July 14 “Fête
de la Fédération” celebrated the first anniversary of the storming of the
Bastille. It became a French national holiday in 1880 and has
been observed ever since.
When is Bastille Day?
Officially, Bastille Day is
on Friday, July 14, 2017. The holiday is always held on July 14 to celebrate
French National Day (July 14, 1789).
How do we celebrate Bastille Day or French National
Day?
Bastille Day is commemorated
with a military parade in Paris attended by President of the Republic,
currently Emmanuel Macron, and other political leaders. Some 4,000 soldiers,
police, firefighters and various military academies take part in the
spectacle on Paris's famous Champs-Élysées.
Flags of
blue, white and red fly everywhere, but especially on the Champs-Élysées in
Paris where the large Bastille Day Military Parade is filled with cadet,
infantry, motorized and mounted troops. They march from l’Arc de Triomphe to
Place de la Concorde. Allied troops also march in the parade. The sky is busy
with airforce aerobatic displays.
Elsewhere in France,
villages, towns and cities host their own fireworks displays and dances (July
13).
In the
evening fireworks light up the capital from the Eiffel Tower.

À la session de juin 2018, 765
500 candidat(e)s se sont présenté(e)s aux épreuves du baccalauréat !
52% dans les séries générales,
20% dans les séries technologiques,
28% dans la voie professionnelle.
Avec l'arrivée de la nombreuse "génération
2000", on compte 35 900 candidats de plus qu'en 2017, dont 22 100 en
séries générales et 13 800 en séries technologiques.
Avec 88,3 %
d'admis, la session de juin permet à 675 600 candidats de devenir bacheliers.
Le taux de réussite global à cette session est en hausse
par rapport à celle de 2017 (+0,4 point).
Le taux de réussite dans les séries générales s'élève à
91,1 % (+0,4 point par rapport à 2017). Le nombre de bacheliers généraux atteint
359 100, soit 21 600 de plus qu'en 2017.
Les taux de
réussite des différentes séries sont les suivants :
Bac ES : 90,3
% (+1,3 point)
Bac L : 90,7 %
(+0,1 point)
Bac S : 91,8 %
(stable)
Le taux de
réussite dans les séries technologiques s'établit à 88,9 %, en baisse par
rapport à 2017 (-1,6 point) :
Les séries STMG, TMD, STI2D et ST2S (87
% des candidats de la voie technologique) perdent respectivement -2,9 points
(taux de réussite de 86,1 %), -1,3 point (taux de réussite de 97,1 %), -0,9
point (taux de réussite de 90,7 %) et -0,6 point (taux de réussite de 91,5 %).
Le taux de réussite de la série STL demeure
stable (91,6 %), ceux des séries STHR et STD2A sont en légère hausse
(respectivement +0,8 point à 94,3 % et +0,6 point à 97,1 %), et celui de la
série STAV augmente de +2,3 points, à 90,4 %.
Le taux de
réussite du baccalauréat professionnel s'établit à 82,6 %. Il gagne 1,1 point
par rapport à 2017. Le baccalauréat 2018 a permis de qualifier
professionnellement 178 400 jeunes.

79,9 % en juin 2018 :

World Cup. A total of 64 matches will be played in 12 venues located in 11

The defending champions, Germany, were knocked out in the group stage. It was the first time since the1938that
a German side did not advance from the first stage of a World Cup tournament,[and
the fourth time in the last five World Cups that the holders had been
eliminated in the opening stage of the tournament afterFrancein2002,Italyin2010andSpainin2014.
A total of twelve stadiums in eleven Russian cities have been built and
renovated for the FIFA World Cup 2018.

Kaliningrad Stadium.
The first piles were driven into the ground in September 2015.
Kazan: Kazan Arena. The stadium was built for the 2013
Summer Universiade.
Moscow: Luzhniki
Stadium. The
largest stadium in the country was closed for renovation in 2013.
Moscow: Spartak
Stadium. The
stadium is a home arena to its namesakeFC
Spartak Moscow.
Nizhny
Novgorod: Nizhny Novgorod Stadium. The construction of the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium
commenced in 2015. The project was completed in December 2017.
Rostov-on-Don:
Rostov Arena. The stadium is located on the left bank of the Don River. The stadium
construction was completed on 22 December 2017.
Saint
Petersburg: Saint Petersburg Stadium. The construction of the stadium
commenced in 2007. The project was officially completed on 29 December 2016. The
stadium has hosted games of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and will serve as
a venue forUEFA Euro 2020.
Samara:
Samara Arena. The construction officially started on 21 July 2014. The project was completed on 21 April 2018.
Saransk:
Mordovia Arena. The stadium in Saransk was scheduled to be commissioned in 2012 in time
for the opening of the all-Russian Spartakiad, but the plan was revised. The
opening was rescheduled to 2017. The arena hosted its first match on 21 April
2018.
Sochi: Fisht Stadium. The stadium hosted
the opening and closing ceremonies of the2014
Winter Olympics. Afterwards, it was renovated in preparation for the 2017 FIFA
Confederations Cup and 2018 World Cup.
Volgograd: Volgograd
Arena.
The main arena of Volgograd was built on the demolishedCentral Stadiumsite, at the foot of the Mamayev
Kurgan memorial complex. The stadium was commissioned on 3 April 2018.
Yekaterinburg:
Ekaterinburg Arena. The Central Stadium of Yekaterinburg has been renovated for the FIFA
World Cup. The arena's stands have a capacity of 35,000 spectators. The
renovation project was completed in December 2017.
